East Brunswick Has Plenty To Do For Kids Of All Ages

East Brunswick is a township in New Jersey, with a population of 46,756. East Brunswick is part of the New York metropolitan area and is situated beside the popular commuter town of New Brunswick. Being so close to NYC means there is always plenty to see and do near East Brunswick, but you do not have to travel into the city to enjoy a wealth of amenities and entertainment. East Brunswick offers plenty to do, right on your doorstep.

East Brunswick has a long history, with the area originally occupied by the Lenape people. Thomas Lawrence, a baker from nearby New York, purchased a significant parcel of land in 1677. More settlers arrived at the end of the seventeenth century, and by the middle of the nineteenth century, a small settlement had built up, and East Brunswick was well on its way to becoming a town.

The area started as a farming community, which was very different from today’s metropolitan town. However, in the 1930s, the site saw more suburban growth thanks to improved road access and a boom in house building. When the New Jersey Turnpike was extended to East Brunswick in 1952, the town saw a huge population boom. By 1960, the population had tripled!

Get Out Into Nature In East Brunswick

Because East Brunswick is so close to New York and is a suburban area, you might think that opportunities to get into nature are limited! However, there are plenty of places to enjoy the fresh air, including:

  • Rutgers Gardens is part of Rutgers University and houses an impressive collection of plants and trees spread over 180 acres. There is a student farm for those who are learning about horticulture, plus a farmers market where you can enjoy their wares. The garden has several plant collections, including a bamboo forest and gorgeous flower gardens, and natural habitats so you can see nature at its best. The park is free for all and hosts several special events throughout the year, so pack a lunch and enjoy the peaceful surroundings.
  • Golf enthusiasts will want to book a tee time and Tamarack Golf Course. Readers of Home News Tribune rated the course as the best in Central Jersey – and it is also one of the most difficult! This is a course for experienced golfers who want a challenging and fun game. Tamarack features two championship eighteen hole courses, designed by Hal Purdy. They also offer camps and clinics for young golfers ages five through eighteen.
  • Food lovers will enjoy a visit to Giamarese Farm and Orchards. The farm has been in the Giamarese family since the 1940s and is a great place to stop for some fresh produce and a walk outside. You can pick your own produce, including peaches, pumpkins, and greens, and if you happen to visit in December, you can purchase a choose and cut Christmas tree. Giamarese Farm also offers educational visits and hayrides throughout the year.
  • Crystal Springs Family Waterpark was the first municipal waterpark in New Jersey. Crystal Springs is ideal on a hot summer day and offers a range of pools, including a lap pool, kiddie pool, family pool, and a spray park.

Indoor Attractions Whatever The Weather

When you are finished with your outdoor adventures, or if the weather is inclement, East Brunswick offers a wealth of indoor attractions to keep your family entertained. Popular stops include:

  • Urban Air Adventure Park offers trampolines, tube playgrounds, a climbing wall, and more. Kids will love the active soft play, while mom and dad can relax in the cafe. They also host regular glow nights for extra colorful fun.
  • All In Adventures Escape Rooms offers fun, challenging puzzles, clues, and hidden object mysteries to unleash your inner detective! Go with friends or family, host a birthday party, or enjoy team-building with a difference.
  • AMC Starplex Movie Theater is great for when you are ready to take the weight off your feet and relax for a while. The theater is reasonably priced and offers comfy reclining seats. You can even pick your favorite seat online ahead of time.

Unleash Your Inner Creativity

If you have always wanted to find your inner artist, East Brunswick is the place to do it.

Artist People is a studio in East Brunswick where anyone can learn to paint. They offer classes for everyone from kids to adults and also do special events such as bridal showers and “paint and sip.” You might create a painted glass, a canvas piece, or something entirely else. It is a fun and affordable way to do something a little different.

If painting is not your thing, how about building your very own tabletop garden? The Sipping Plant is an ideal location for a day out with the kids, catching up with friends, or going on a date. You can choose your own glass bowl, and the knowledgeable instructors will talk you through creating your unique succulent garden. They also offer regular string art and pallet art classes.

Do Not Let Water Damage Disturb Your Creativity

Water damage can happen all too easily in the home. You might knock over a jar full of water while painting, or an appliance might malfunction. There is also the risk of broken or leaking pipes.

If water damage happens in your home, do not despair. SERVPRO technicians have all the skill and equipment necessary to remedy the situation and leave your home, “Like it never even happened.”

However, prevention is better than cure, so if possible, please take steps to avoid water damage in your home:

  • Keep all appliances in good working order. Check water lines and pipes regularly, ensure seals are intact and deal with any problems immediately.
  • Do not leave running faucets unattended.
  • Ensure your house plumbing is in good condition and if you notice any leaks, no matter how small, call a plumber.
